Academics

students and faculty in the Greek Parliament An academic year at the Arcadia Center is much more than two semesters’ worth of classes. Staying in Athens for a full-year is the surest way of getting the most out of your study abroad experience—friendships, language learning and intercultural competence.

But all of these are also products of a semester’s study. Arcadia’s semester programs are carefully built to support you in your intercultural adventure. The Greek Key: Language in a Cultural Landscape will help you acquire the skills you need to navigate your way successfully through your time here while giving you the opportunity to foster social engagement through community service.

The participants of our programs:

  • Enjoy an academic experience that is enhanced by the role Athens and Greece plays in the learning process
  • Develop strategies for learning from the key challenges of living in a new cultural environment
  • Develop a creative awareness and critical appreciation of cultural diversity as a vehicle for personal development

Academic highlights include:

  • Classes that are fully accredited through the Center for Education Abroad at Arcadia University
  • An academic program that is evaluated by external professionals
  • Two 14-week semester programs
  • The opportunity to take 3 4-credit electives
  • The opportunity to learn to communicate in Greek by participating in The Greek Key: Language in a Cultural Landscape
  • A Monday through Thursday class schedule leaving Fridays free for weekly outings and class trips
  • Two 3-credit on-site summer programs
  • Field trips, both weekend and day trips, that enhance learning
  • An academic experience that integrates extra-classroom resources of Greece into the learning process
  • Upper level classes with no prerequisites
