Location & Facilities

Arcadia Center Library Location

The Arcadia Center is located in an attractive early twentieth-century building a few blocks behind the Kallimarmaro, the marble stadium built in the fourth century BCE and renovated for the first modern Olympics of 1896. There is a small plateia (square) just below the Center that is itself like a small village. It offers an ever-popular gyro joint, two mezedopoleia (restaurants serving small dishes that are shared), a bakery, a traditional Greek home-style restaurant, one of Athens’ most upscale restaurants and one of Athens’ best sushi restaurants, not to mention numerous small shops.

Facilities

  • Classrooms: all of Arcadia’s classrooms are housed in the Center.
  • Library: Arcadia offers a 3,500 volume library with ancient, Byzantine and modern collections. Students are provided access to the libraries at the American School of Classical Studies and the British School at Athens for those research needs that cannot be met at the Center.
  • Computers and Internet access: students are provided access to Arcadia’s computer lab, which offers Internet access and printing.
  • The Center is also equipped with wireless Internet.
  • The media center includes a television, VCR, and DVD player.
  • Students receive all of their mail in the Center.
  • Students have access to the Center’s kitchens as well as the garden and the roof terrace.
