Ancient Studies
This two-semester course aims at enabling the student to reach a secure understanding of Greek texts written in the Attic dialect and inform them of the historical and cultural contexts of the material covered in class. To achieve this aim the students have to review basic grammatical and syntactical elements
The students will read from a selection of original texts including rhetorical works by Lysias (e.g. On the Murder of Eratosthenes) and Demosthenes (e.g. Against Neaera), and passages by the historian Xenophon (e.g. Anabasis, Hellenica). Both levels of this course are available in the fall and spring semesters.
